How it works in a shop
- 1Who it is for, and on what budgetA gift, something for themselves or a replacement; for a partner, a child or work. It is what a good shop assistant would use to choose for you, and what a catalogue never asks.
- 2What actually matters to themSimple to use, lasts for years, sustainable. Multi-select, because nobody wants only one thing. Those ticks are what score, and the score decides which recommendation appears.
- 3Three outcomes, not oneDepending on the score they see the premium, the balanced or the budget option — always with a cheaper alternative beside it. Recommending the expensive one to everybody is the fastest way to be disbelieved.
What the recommender asks
These are the questions in the ready-made template. You can change every one of them.
- 1What are you looking for?
- 2Who is it for?
- 3What is your budget?
- 4What matters to you?
- 5When do you need it?
Online shop FAQ
- Isn't it simpler to add filters to the catalogue?
- A filter requires the visitor to already know what they want. The recommender asks about their situation — who for, by when, what matters — and answers on their behalf. That is the difference between a shelf and a shop assistant.
- Why ask for an email and not a phone number?
- Because the outcome is a recommendation with a link to the product, and that gets read in a message. Phoning someone who was browsing a lamp is the most effective way to make sure they never come back.
- What questions should a recommender have?
- Who it is for, budget, what they value — multi-select — and by when. Four. More than that and the visitor leaves before the recommendation, which is the thing they came for.
- Is it any use if I sell one product?
- Then it is even better the other way round: the quiz recommends the variant, size or bundle, and above all captures why they want it. That «why» is the subject line of the email that actually gets opened.
- Do I pay per response?
- No. Leads are unlimited on every plan, including the free one. You pay a flat monthly fee, never per answer.

Quiz vs form: what the conversion data actually saysThe median landing page converts at 6.6% according to Unbounce. Interactive formats do better, but it pays to know which numbers are neutral and which come from vendors with a stake in the answer.
